Job Description:
General Definition:
Under general supervision, provides professional psychiatric nursing care to acutely and chronically ill mental health, substance abuse, and developmentally disabled consumers within a 24/7/365 crisis unit. A crisis nurse performs the full range of psychiatric nursing duties. Work assignments require a thorough knowledge of behavioral health practices and procedures, laws and regulations, the ability to work independently, and involve team leader shift responsibility, for crisis therapists, counselors, and support workers.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the North Carolina State Board of Registered Nursing.
One year of experience in an acute psychiatric care or consumer community mental health facility.
May require working on a locked Involuntary Crisis Unit with consumers who can be a danger to themselves and others.
Individuals must be able to restrain consumers in an emergent crisis.
